The Domestic Day to Day cooking course is presented by Chef Joey Setshedi under the guidance of Chef Antoinette Coetzer.

Whether you want your domestic worker to learn the basic of boiling water or to satisfy their personal desire to whip up a mouth-watering dessert, the Domestic Day to Day Cooking Course will achieve just that.

The main purpose of this course is to explain, teach and guide your domestic helper how to prepare a complete meal within a four hour training session, including several variations.  

This course was specifically developed with your Domestic Helper in mind, the skill level of this course and the language wherein the course is presented is to accommodate your Domestic Helper, to develop a new or improve a current skill.

During this course Chef Joey will discuss, explain and show to them the following:

  • Discussion on the use and maintaining of basic kitchen equipment, knife skills, measuring and mixing methods.
  • Kitchen and food hygiene
  • Portioning of chicken
  • Basic baking, frying and grilling
  • Sauces and soups
  • Menu planning and shopping lists

Each class will start with a discussion of the recipes that will be prepared, methods that will be used as well as the ingredients.

Chef Joey will demonstrate, while explaining to participants how to interpret and execute a recipe with success.  Attendees will participate in preparing recipes by them self. Variations on recipes will be discussed, explained and demonstrated. No prior experience is necessary to join any of Antoinette’s cooking classes – just the ability to read and write and a love of great food!



This 4 week course will be presented on a Tuesday morning from 09h00 – 13h00 for 4 consecutive weeks, the course fee of R2640 and will also include:

  1. The guidance and assistance of Chef Joey
  2. Each class will be accompanies with a recipe booklet and notes to take home.
  3. The ingredients of dishes that will be prepared with each class.
  4. Coffee and tea will be served during the class.
  5. The use of an Antoinette’s Cookery School apron during the class.
  6. At completion of this course a Certificate of Attendance will be issued.

Chef Joey will create a Whats-up group for all the participants, they will be able to communicate with her the whole time, and she will make herself available to help the while they are cooking and practicing at home.  The Whats-up group has proven to be a great success as it empowers the participant and gives them a platform to show each other what the make, they will keep in contact with each other long after completion of this course.


After each cooking sessions, photos will be posted on the Antoinette's Cookery School Facebook page and group. 


After completion of the first course each participant will receive their certificate of attendance.





Due to popular demand, the Domestic Day to Day cooking course now has a follow-up course, the second course can be attended after completion of the first course, during the second course chef Joey will discuss the following topics in detail:

  • Serviette Folds
  • Cooking with Herbs
  • Safety 
  • Menu Planning

The variety of recipes that will be prepared during these two course are mostly developed as easy family meals, some bakes goods for lunch boxes and deserts, balanced meals consisting of vegetables, starch, proteins in the form of beef, chicken, lamb and fish.
